DROMINEER LITERARY FESTIVAL 2010

'The  Reeder' by Gerardine  Wisdom

The seventh Dromineer Literary Festival will be held from the 7th. - 10th, October 2010 at the Lough Derg Yacht Club, Dromineer, Co. Tipperary.  Renowned  poet Dave Lordan will read on All Ireland Poetry Day and conduct a Poetry Workshop.  There will also be a Writing Fiction  Workshop with novelist / journalist / teacher David Rice. In association with haiku ireland, haiku poet Maeve O'Sullivan will present a water-based haiku Workshop and ginko.

This year's festival features the theme of 'memory', which is very appropriate to a literary festival.  In Greek mythology Mnemosyne was not only the goddess of memory but the inventor of words and language and the mother of the muses.

The festival will explore memory as literature with renowned memoirists Hugo Hamilton and Carlo Gebler in the 'Meet the Authors' session on Saturday evening; as personal recollection with Sandra Lefroy and Reggie Goodbody in 'Watermarked' afloat on Sunday afternoon; as artifact through the creations of Gerardine Wisdom in the Festival  Exhibition; as the pristine memory stores of children in the Schools Poetry Competition.

Dromineer has been described as a 'boutique' festival; small but high class, with an atmosphere that is serious but informal, professional but friendly, in an exquisite setting on the shores of  Lough Derg (the decidely non-penitentional one).  Join us in October!
